milling and Cold Planing

E.J. Paving currently employs a full service milling crew from highly trained operators and laborers to in house mechanics. We have spent countless hours not only in the field but in the classroom and safety courses. Along with our state of the art equipment, our milling crew is available for 24/7 service to handle any milling project from full width (curb-to-curb) to trench repair. There is no project too small that we can't complete.

PROCESS

The Milling Process is mainly used to remove abnormalities from an existing road or parking lot and to provide a better driving experience while adding longevity to the existing surface. Milling is also very useful in the repair of roads and parking lots. From rutting, raveling, bleeding (binder coming up to surface), damage from accidents and/or fires. It also helps control heights of existing road structures, curb reveals, manholes and catch basin heights, shoulder and guardrail heights, and overhead clearances.

why milling?

Process of removing at least part of the surface of a paved area such as a road, bridge, or parking lot. Milling removes enough thickness to level the surface to a full depth removal. Milling paved surfaces is widely used for recycling today. The existing pavement removed from an area is ground up, this is called Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP). This material in turn is then mixed with new aggregate and asphalt cement. From start to finish the milling process has a positive impact on our environment.

"E.J. Paving performed milling for the City Of Gloucester on multiple occasions in 2014. They did an outstanding job on all aspects of the jobs from traffic control to clean up and everything in between. I would highly recommend them for future projects."
