Best Buddies is a nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Tom Evangelista and his daughter Ashley have become a part of this organization by raising money to ride their bikes 100 miles from Boston, MA to Hyannis, MA in the best buddies challenge. Together they have raised over $5,000 to participate in this event.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation's mission is to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services. At E.J. Paving we have taken initiative in supporting The National Breast Cancer Foundation and helping make the public’s awareness to this vital cancer better known. We have supported this awareness by creating our own event known as the “Road to Awareness”. During the month of October our employees wear pink E.J. Paving “Road to Awareness” shirts.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes muscle weakness, paralysis, and ultimately, respiratory failure. ALS attacks certain cells in the brain and the spinal cord needed to keep our muscles moving. In August 2014 Tom Evangelista and his team at EJ Paving took a stand in participating in the ice bucket challenge that helped create awareness for ALS. Along with the ice bucket challenge E.J. Paving has donated money to help support fight this disease.

Lazarus House Ministries helps head of households and individuals living in poverty regain their dignity and become self sufficient members of the community by offering emergency shelter, food and clothing to people in crisis and then providing transitional housing, advocacy, health services, education and work preparation to permanently break the cycle of poverty. Every year E.J. Paving participates in the Lazarus House event Project Bethlehem. Contributing to this event means that every year around Christmas our company inherits three to four families in need. We go out and buy presents that are on their wish lists in hopes of making their Christmas brighter.

The Pan-Mass Challenge raises money for the life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts totaling 192 miles from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA. The PMC channels 100% of every rider-raised dollar directly to the Jimmy Fund. It’s the most successful fundraising event for charity in the nation. Tom, Lee and Ashley Evangelista along with Steve Kupiec have participated in the annual bike ride, raising over $250,000 from 2013 through 2018. Each year E.J. Paving has set up an annual Golfing Tournament to help raise the money for the Pan Mass Challenge. We plan to keep this tradition alive for at least 10 years straight.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts has been committed to providing adults and children with cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through cutting-edge research. For the last 6 years E.J. Paving has been associated with Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund by contributing $5,000 a year and walking in the annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk totaling 26.2 miles.
